Mobipocket's and Adobe's DRM allow a time limited usage of an eBook. So when you download an eBook from a library that supports Overdrive, you get the eBook for about 21 days. Then after that, it goes back on the virtual shelf for others to borrow and you no longer can read it. But you could borrow it again if it's available. And if not, put a reserve on it.
