Can I change the type of a number of custom metadata or I can copy and paste between two numbers custom metadata fields?
( BACKUP metadata.db )

Make the new field,
Then Select all (books that have values in the Integer field),
Use Bulk Metadata editors, Search and Replace TAB to copy the value.
Search (original field): (.+) Replace (destination field): \1

Check that all is good, then remove the old Integer field
