Yes JB required - I have the light toggle via Kual
With the light off completely it looks exactly like the previous non-lit kindle screens
There's quite a difference in lighting levels between PW units - 24 on my first one is equivalent to about 17 on the replacement (which it miles better overall). I tend to have mine at 2 in low light (bedside lamp on), about 8 in general artificial light and between 12 to 14 in natural light depending on how bright it is (not very in London at the moment!)
