mobi2mobi.exe (windows, not perl) problem
I have a couple of books that I can't seem to get this working on. I am using the windows mobi2mobi.exe, not the perl and I have tried both command line and mobi2mobi gui. I have done this successfully on a couple books. For example, I had a "secure mobi" book from eharlequin that I first de-drmed using mobidedrm script and then, because the author was done as "firstname lastname", I used mobi2mobi.exe to set author to "lastname, firstname" so that the author showed in the proper alphabetical list in my "library" (mobipocket reader 6.0) and on my Kindle. I also did this with an Amazon azw file. De-drm'ed it to a mobi file and then because they had a comma at the end of the author's first name I used mobi2mobi to correct this. Worked fine.
So I have successfully used mobi2mobi.
But I'm having problems with some other files. I can not get the author name to be changed and when opening the files in mobipocket reader I get a "File Corrupted" error message. The files I am having problems with are not secure mobi files. They are unsecured. They are downloads from Ellora's Cave. I can put the file on my Kindle and it opens fine, but no author name shows and the title could be "prettied up." So that is what I am trying to do. But no love so far. I have put mobi2mobi.exe (and gui when I tried it) in the same folder as the book. I run standard command line: mobi2mobi.exe file.prc --outfile file.mobi --title "title" --author "lastname, firstname" and I do end up with a resulting mobi file, but after I copy it into my library folder and then open mobipocket reader, no author name is shown and when I try to open it I get the File Corrupted error. I've been making sure that the file names contain no spaces and use quotes around the author and title strings.
So, open to suggestions. I will try any suggestions when I get home this evening.
