My experience with last_modified is similar to theducks

I gave up trying to get a full understanding on this issue. All of my assertions regarding the updating of the column were true - most of the time. But none of them were true - all of the time. And, whilst theducks and my experiences were similar - they weren't exactly the same

So I have a custom column called last_actioned_date, that I maintain manually; yes it is more work for me - but I want a date that means what I think it means. So for me its no pain to do that, I also record what I did in a last_action custom column. I do occasionally sort on the Last Action Date column.

I don't display the standard last_modified date in either the spreadsheet or Book Details.

BTW : I do NOT regard the fact that I've 'had to' define my own column(s), rather than using the 'out-of-the-box' column as a defect, bug or any other kind of deficiency. My requirements are somewhat idiosyncratic.
