@knitkitty33 - I 'get around' the problem by adding PDF's separately - after changing the Add Books setting to get title and author from the file name.

I also Add books into a Review library where I 'tidy up' Title, Author, metadata etc, and resolve any inter-library duplicates, before moving them out of Review into my Main library. I find this makes life a lot easier.
