But the ruler-straight horizontal lines looked controller-related to me too, glad I'm not alone (Has anyone gotten successful controller replacement from bookeen or BoB? The threads all seem to be "yep, its controller failure, but I had to pay anyway"..)

The last day of life went roughly like this:
- wake up, carry downstairs (actually the wif did that, I'm on crutches again) and set it on the table. it got moved to a different room and read off and on for a couple hours
- it got left alone a few hours indoors while we were gone (in it's case on a table, pet-free etc)
- then carried it outside and set on the back seat of the jeeeeep for an hour (dinner) roughly 85 degrees, evening (no sun, no superheating, etc)
- carried inside, it sat on a table for an hour
- I turned on just before bed (boot time is annoying, so I generally turn it on before going upstairs) -- boom. looked like the pic.

Psuedo-related note - anyone use the eCaddy with the new leather case?
Not with the *new* leather case. However, with one of those wide (5-6mm) rubber bands, the lid stays on fine with the *old* leather case.
