It can be done in a round-about way.

1) Create a user category in the tag browser (Alter tag browser, manage user categories).
2) Search for the books you have read (however you do that).
3) Click in the author column of the resulting list. If it opens for edit, hit escape.
4) Making sure that the books shown are still the "read" books, select all the books.
5) Drag an author cell onto the new user category. Because all the books are selected you will create a user category containing all authors for books you have read.
6) Click the user category name. You will see all books by these authors whether or not you have read them.
