I happen to really dislike the ads, but only because of the TYPE of ads. The mere concept of ads is really not an issue for me -- they don't show unless you're not using the Kindle, or show in a tiny strip on the library list view. But . . . I am a religious Jew and cannot accept some of the innappropriate ads I have gotten. This amounts to de facto religious discrimination, because a Kindle would cost more for me (for basic useabililty I mean) than if I weren't religious.
So I called up Amazon to discuss the problem and they kindly unsubscribed me for free.
Of course, I only did this since I both
a) would never pay for ad removal for any other reason
b) had already bought my Kindle BEFORE I knew inappropriate ads would be displayed.
