Note that Overdrive offers the Standard version of Readerworks as freeware. The download link takes you to a screen asking for name, email address, address and phone number as "required" fields, but just providing name and email address worked for me.

Unfortunately, the Standard version doesn't support cover art or embedded images. It does try to build a Table of Contents, assuming suitable HTML tags exist in the source document.
