I found a workaround for my issue that *might* help others.

1. I had all my books delivered to the Kindle app on my Android phone
2. I opened the book(s) I wanted to transfer. The file is downloaded to my phone.
3. I connected my phone up the Calibre.
4. I downloaded the book to my hard drive. The books are still in the cloud if something happens to the files.

Hope this helps someone else.
