It sounds like you want the metadata tags to be recognized after you set them in Calibre. I'd suggest giving Mantano a try. It's my preferred android reader, but I can't promise it will run well on a rooted NST as I haven't taken that plunge with mine yet.

ETA: I just realized the market version of Mantano might not run on the NST because its an older version of android. You can probably find an apk of Mantano Free (the older version) somewhere online though.
