I resemble that remark! My mother and I bought Kindle 4s for each other the Christmas before last, and then when hers was stolen, I gave her mine, thank you very much! (This was not entirely unconnected to the fact the PW had just come out, but I'd have done it anyway.)
So some of us *do* buy stuff for our mums. Of course I'm only 36 so maybe in two years I'll lose the soppy nostalgia that drives me to do stuff for my relatives -- but I doubt it.
