I honestly dont know. k3flasher works for all of my needs and is simple to use.
I have never needed atk. (I was fortunate enough to be able to "play" with it, not "need" it") In my mind atk is a large general purpose hammer dating from the days before better tools whereas k3flasher is a modern custom built scalpel that perfectly does the job I need.
The brief encounter I had with atk months ago was a lot less edifying than the many happy and short experiences I have had with k3flasher.
I suppose it depends what you are trying to get done. atk can do most things when instructed IIRC. k3flasher with its swanky new nbd modes and device information tools more than has the bells and whistles one might need for most situations.
