Got this in my email today - the third paragraph is particularly intersting...
New on Tor.com, Tuesday morning, August 26: “Shade,” an original “Jumper” story by Steven Gould.
Before it was a big-budget movie with a somewhat (cough, cough) rearranged storyline, Jumper (1992) was a superb SF novel about a teenager who’s the only person in the world who can teleport...and who, being a teenager, uses this power to (1) get away from his terrible father, (2) steal cool stuff, and (3) get girls. It was a grabby, compelling read, and its sequel Reflex (2004) was just as much fun. Now Gould tells a story set after both novels—a story canonical with the novels, not with the alternate vision of the movie. Illustrated by Eric Fortune, it’s a knockout.
In the coming days we’ll be announcing other new original material on Tor.com, including more original fiction and art and new e-book giveaways. Some of these offerings will be available only to people who register on the site itself, so if you haven’t done so already, consider signing up right now. It takes only a couple of minutes and it’s entirely free.
Meanwhile, check out “Shade,“ by Steven Gould, on Tor.com.
