I always loved writing, so I think I became a reader because it inspired my writing. It expanded my vocabulary, taught me sentence structure, allowed me to venture into other author's minds. I specifically love children's books (JK Rowling, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Beatrix Potter, etc). They are my inspiration for being a children's book writer- along with children, of course.
