Yes and no. I can imagine there would be complaints from SO Kindle users if such a desirable feature only works after paying to have the ads removed. If Amazon implements it, then they would also have to admit that that feature should have been there a long time ago. Might also be a lot of work to implement for possibly only a very small percentage of Kindle owners that even care what is shown on the sleep screen.
