I agree: Substituting a few thousand dollars' and a few-score pounds' worth of paper textbooks with one $400 Kindle is a smart move. Providing the texts electronically is the natural first and best step... but for those who can't afford a serious laptop (much less a Macbook), a $400 device would be music to their ears.

(Even without the MP3 support.)
