I have a 2gb SD card (Patriot brand) in my 505. I don't notice any significant battery drain, but I also don't have very many files on it. maybe a couple hundred mbs at the most. So, I think Vivaldirules might be onto something regarding the amount of material on the card affecting the battery life.
