It would then be a mobi book and non-kindle devices can read mobi.
At this point, I think Amazon could quite safely sell "general" Mobipocket e-books alongside Kindle Edition e-books and not lose anything. They aren't really about selling Kindles anyway, they are about selling content. People who'd buy a Kindle today would be the same people buying a Kindle even if Amazon sold "other" formats.
