Not quite true. If you live in Scotland and lose all your life savings to a boiler room scam perpetrated and prosecuted in England and Wales, it affects you, particularly if it then restricts your right to bring a civil case in Scotland, which you might not be able to do at all if it automatically becomes an appeal case!
And vice versa!
