Go figure ...
I experienced three lockups at boot since the latest firmware upgrade. I hadn't backed it up in a while and when I copied all the files from the internal memory I received an error on one of the Palatino fonts and it wouldn't let me eject the Cybook (I have a Mac). I ran a volume repair on both the internal memory and the SD card without any errors. I rebooted and had the same problem so I deleted the Palatino fonts and everything has been working fine since.

Strange because I would have thought a corrupted font file would cause it to lockup every boot. You might want to try copying all the files to your local drive and see if yet get any errors and try removing unused fonts.
