I have a new 505 and have no trouble reading it on the tram to work. You might need to angle the reader so it isn't reflecting straight in your face but it is easy to find a good position.
On another plus side I was happy to find that polarised glasses don't darken the screen like they do with LCDs in laptops/musicplayers/Bank ATMs.
