So, is that correct? Will Kobo read B&N, ePub, and secure digital books?

Native to the Glo (so, not using any other software), can the user:

a. set up shelves (or catalogs or collections ...)
b. select a book and assign it to one or more shelves (rather than the cumbersome Nook Glow, where the user selects a shelf and then must sort through all 200 books to add one to the shelf)

thanks to all of you as I fumble my way though this purchase ....

Do you use Calibre?

Are you averse to cleaning off the B&N protection?

It would open up your options if you let the Calibre Plug-ins clean the books for you because then you could choose the brand/device of your choice.
