Finished
Shadow Chaser by Serena Glass, urban fantasy. It had a lot of the expected elements: a protagonist with unusual powers, unknown origins, a parent-figure/guardian dies early in the story, she's in opposition to the organisation/authorities she work with, but has a few trusted, very loyal friends. Started out a bit slow, but overall it was entertaining, and I liked the inclusion of Egyptian mythology.
Now I'm reading
Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell. Long overdue. Love it so far.
