Well, it just shows the actual HTML code of the description, which I wouldn't really call "ugly". It at least gives you complete freedom to input any standard HTML code of your own. As you say, the standard display of book descriptions is OK -- the "ugly" view is the
edit view. It might be an overkill to include a WYSIWYG editor in Marvin just for the sake of editing brief book descriptions.
