In the case of installing MobileRead *.bin packages - you DO NOT reboot your Kindle.

If the package requires a reboot, it will be handled by the package.

(Sorry - Kindles don't run windows, none of that: You moved your mouse - reboot required stuff.)

As a first-time user, you may not know about "the root of the Kindle" - -

What you see as USB storage over the USB cable to your computer IS NOT the "root of the Kindle's file system".
It is only a small portion of the Kindle's file system tree.

Posts here can sometimes be a little bit casual in the use of the terminology.
So read careful - hints are things like: "root of the USB storage area" found in the directions.
That means along-side of the Documents folder you see over the USB cable.
