I have to agree with kovidgoyal and with Sparrow. I've always wished for a computer "smart" enough to mentally digest several books (or movies), capture the main generalities and create a new story in that general style (as per Sparrow).

And when you read a book you are moving text via your eyes into concepts in your brain. Why not simply go directly from book to brain. I don't mean that the book "pushes" the concepts but that you "pull" the concepts. Just think of all the significant others we wouldn't disturb while reading 9in this manner) in bed. Maybe we could "multi-task" even more than now where we can input data to the brain via both ears and eyes. With the direct connection we would have a third type of input to the brain.
