I dug a bit further.

( I hid all my main kindle screens via wmctrl to show you this)

[root@kindle 100dpi]# xfd -fn "fixed"

as you can see on mine that would equate to -Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO8859-1

so... err...
