To clarify - the phrase "run up to the library" is simply an Americanism that means "to go to the library". Similarly, "walking down the hall" doesn't mean going downstairs.
The library is located on the same floor as the lounge/living room - NOT upstairs.

why the location of the library is important. It's important for the time table, not for the actual murder.
