I always cherry-pick my favorite authors' stuff from anthologies first (those authors are usually what brought the anthology to my attention in the first place). Then I'll jump around checking out other stuff. I've never read a multi-author anthology straight through, so an easily navigable ToC is a huge bonus for me in those situations.
