A feature I would like to see in Calibre (perhaps it is already there but i don't know how to access it) is the ability to plug in a device on which I have already loaded ebooks using Calibre, have Calibre mark the books that are on the device as in memory, unplug the device, plug in a second device, and upload the marked ebooks from the first device to the second device.

Alternatively, perhaps one could attach both devices simultaneously to Calibre and then choose to copy (or transfer) the ebooks from one devide to the other.

The reason for this is that my wife's ereader is on its last legs and we would like to buy a new device and transfer what is currently on her reader to the new reader, but have Calibre manage the books as it does now.

I could just drag and drop the contents of the old reader onto my hard drive and then onto the new device, but it isn't clear to me that doing so will let Calibre manage the transferred ebooks. Or am I wrong about this?
