I simply switch "Off" to blank screen, not power down - I've always been told this is best practice with this type of battery, ie a minute trickle being used, born out by my experience anyway.
It certainly educates the battery - I manage around 2-3+ weeks, depending on useage.
All my other Sony's are the same, the 650 the best - so, never actually power off is the answer ....
