My primary goal this year was to read 22,500 pages which I surpassed on October 10th, well ahead of schedule despite two months where I read way less than normal. For 2014 I will raise my page goal to 24,000 pages, 2,000/month, and see how it works. I doubt my reading pace from this year is maintainable for me in the long-term.
My first secondary goal was to increase my reading diversity, mainly by getting away from Fantasy novels. Coming into 2013 I had read about 48% Fantasy novels by page count, I wanted to get that down below 40% and ended up at about 35%. I read books from 17 different genres, several of which are very broad "genres". For 2014 I plan on dropping that below 33% which will be my goal for any genre from here on out, but I won't be keeping track as closely.
My other secondary goal was to re-read a lot less than normal which I also succeeded in, re-reading only 2 books (one of which was less than 50 pages), which dropped my cumulative total down to ~25% since 2011. Next year I will probably do some more re-reading, but not too much and I will plan on keeping my total below 25% from here on out. There are some books I just enjoy too much to not re-read every once in a while.
