Most of the apps from the Amazon Appstore are for ANY android tablet (including the Fire) or phone-- some need specific OS versions, processor speed or RAM, some are definitely optimized for larger screens (Fire size).
The Kindle Store does have a few games that will run on non-Fire Kindles.
