I've also had friends that read SciFi and Fantasy but didn't like carrying around the paperbacks that had the more lurid covers. They're not ashamed of reading them but they know some folks might be giving them funny looks or even be offended by the covers, especially if there are kids about. A lot of the romance books have pretty steamy cover art.

My teacher took up my Stephen King book Carrie because of the cover. yeah I get what you mean.
One thing I do love about the e-ink devices no one can tell what you're reading by the cover.
