It does look confusing with them; they used to offer a totally free service; now though you need to start with a trial of their DynDNS Pro service which, when the trial ends, will let you still keep a single dynamic host name.

Other similar offerings are from DyNS http://www.dyns.cx/ (Look at their FREE dynamic DNS service), FreeDNS http://freedns.afraid.org/, DNSExit http://www.dnsexit.com/Direct.sv?cmd=dynDns

Any of these services should let you select a DNS name which you could then share with friends, and not cost a penny.
