But I might consider sealing the basement floor. It does leak in rainy weather, and sealing it might help. Then again, the thought of having to move everything in the basement....

That's one of the big reasons I bought this particular house. Most of the floors are concrete and at my old place (in San Diego) they were all wood. When cats puke on wood ... you panic. When cats puke on concrete, especially sealed concrete, you have a good laugh about it and clean it up when you get around to it.
The builder had put in these beautiful berber carpets upstairs, however, I had them ripped out before I even moved in. Now, they are Pergo ... also cat puke proof.
In any event .... right now, all of the outdoor stuff in piled up in the front and back yards. I just put the first coat of sealant on the front porch .... aaaaand, the rain clouds are beginning to pile up something fierce.
Well, of course!! Naturally!! Goes without saying!!
Gotta go rescue as much as I can. The frame I am building for the door chalkboard (in the office) is not yet painted, and I'd rather it not warp. Then .... shower time!! And ... possibly another shower later in the day because ... drum roll please .... I gotta go to another party tonight.
