Have you tried the Laptop connected BY the wired network port?

Can we assume the Laptop can see any files on the server machine?
Ok, now, Sir,

I have been successful in port forwarding my router. I have set a static IP. I can connect on my LAN/Wireless to the Content Server with my laptop. The Calibre Browser page loads fine. Now, I guess, I need to find how to connect to the Content Server over the internet. Will I have to get a permanent internet address? I've never set up a server before, and I've never created a web page; so I'm unfamiliar with this process.
