I once in a while (every three to six months) check what the updates were and then decide I'll update or not. I went from 0.8.3 to 0.9.7 or something. And on my server I was still running a version 0.7. That's one thing I really like: the database itself doesn't care about what version you're using.... (I use three PC's which might not have the same version of Calibre, with the exact same library)
