Google is breaking even from selling Nexus 4 (un-locked) at $299 and $349. The device has top of the line specs (except the LTE part).
T-Mobile is selling the same device (at profits) for $499 (for the 16GB). This is $150 over what Google is selling.
T-Mobile: $150 profits
Google: very low margin (break-even).
Amazon will follow the Google model. Come to think of it, the Nexus 7 at $199 and $249 is also at very low margin too. Maybe the same with the Nexus 10 at $399.
