Okay, so I twisted most of your words. The fact of the matter is that a tablet is a tool. Any tool could be spent for productive or counterproductive uses. Take a hammer: it can be used for building houses, or vandalizing them. A car can be used for transportation, or it could be used for Sunday drives.
I use my table to check email because that's how I keep in touch with friends and family. Yes I watch videos on it, but they tend to be lectures and documentaries. As for reading, my ereader tends to be used for entertainment books (novels and such) while my tablet tends to be used for information books (manuals, government documents, news).
Yes, I use a tablet for entertainment too. Entertainment is a good thing, as long as it doesn't take over your life.
