They did something similar during the Earth Day countdown with a DRM-ed backlist selection from ePublishing Works!, and offered for just that day a special DRM-free ePub version of it and switched back to only selling the original DRM version after the offer was over.
ARe has an experimental deal going with Avon/HarperCollins now, there are a number of DRM free titles available, a lot of front list stuff.
