Dell has issued a ROM update for the Axim X51v. Don't use it on Axim X50/X50v devices. Fixes and enhancements include:

1. Support Windows Mobile V5.0 Adaptation Kit Update 1.1
2. Enhance PEAP network function
3. Enhance Power Management function
4. Marathon OpenGL driver update.

You should be able to get the upgrade once Dell has managed to fix the download (it currently resolves to a 404 error).
