See another thread for the definition of Hoedown, or check wikipedia. Basically a true hoedown is a somewhat rural (South or West US) where people get-together to eat, visit, sing, dance, etc. We will substitute other entertainment( show & tell about various ereaders) for the singing & dancing.
But the real reason is that's what DixieGal called it on the initial announcement.
