That is true for legacy programs, but not for the apps from Windows Store ---they work like the apps on Windows RT, even when used in Windows 8 Pro. Interesting thing is that I can use the Desktop as one of the "snap" apps in RT, and on the desktop I could have browser and Office windows open. There are two browser in RT, a metro and a desktop one.
