hee ! to be honest i secretly wish i could have seen that premiere... i just can't imagine a bunch of posh opera goers in evening dress hurling their red velours chairs at the stage as the dancers duck and scuttle for cover !! it must have been quite spectacular, don't you think ?? in a way i admire their passion ; i've seen some pretty bad shows but today at the worst all you get is people sneaking out before the end, while the others give them dirty looks and make loud sighs to express their disapproval and condemnation. the ones who stay all the way through will even applaud at the end, presumably because it's expected of them. i can think of a couple of times a riot would have been justified. tolerance and broad-mindedness is good but complacency is another thing, even where culture is concerned.
i'd love to see that BBC drama, i'll have to look for it. is it available on dvd, do you know ? i love the BBC.
