I hated Timequake and I have to say, please don't start with that one! It was his last book, I think, and in the book he talks openly about having no more inspiration and he had to write the book because he was on contract for it.
Unfortunately, I am not much help on a recommendation because I would really like to recommend Slaughterhouse Five, which is not on the list!
