oh, wood, i feel your pain. quite litterally. i also hate collections and it drives me crazy to think how much of my time is spent "reminding" clients they still owe me money. i have one fairly regular client who is a master of delayed gratification, so to speak. they are the reason i have begun writing on all my bills "payable before this date". they are honest in the sense that there is no question they will eventually pay me...
but when ??? the worst is, aside from that, they are not a particularly "good" client ; they are difficult, demanding, rude, inconsiderate, and unreasonable. but they also hire me on regular basis, and i haven't quite yet gotten to the point where i can "fire" an obnoxious client (just waiting for that day, though...). of course, given all their diverse qualities, it's quite possible they will eventually "fire" me, and the problem will be solved, because from what i know of their past dealings they are also very unreliable and subject to 180° changes at a moment's notice.
(now that i think of it, they still owe me for some business cards i made recently. better "remind" them monday. blegh.)

I'm already retired! (and have been for...[fingers...toes...] 14 months)
It's dreamy! (when you get used to the idea, which might not be as easy as anticipated)
