That's not correct. As has already been stated in this thread, there isn't any way of powering off the Kindle completely, all you are doing is putting it in sleep mode with a blank screen. It seems to be a slightly deeper sleep mode than putting it to sleep with the screensaver*, but it is still not completely off, and the battery will continue to drain, albeit slowly.
* I'm pretty sure I remember testing it out and discovering that if you buy a book from Amazon and send it directly to your Kindle while it is in sleep mode with the screensaver, when you switch it on your new book will be there waiting for you. However if you do the same thing but with the sleep mode and blank screen, the book will only start to download after you have switched the Kindle on (wi-fi left on in both cases obviously).
